I need a date!!

Last years Cornwall Pride, a joyous occasion.

What a bloody awful couple of weeks it's been with attacks on the LGBT community and democracy.  What kind of sick world do we live in when people are murdered because of their sexuality,  or as Jo Cox who was working in her constituency to help people.   I have shed many a tear, it's times like this I feel like hiding myself away, withdrawing from the world, but it's not an option, I will continue to fight hate and prejudice as I have all my life.   Haters cannot win, I will be carrying the rainbow flag again at this years Pride to show my support.

My worries seem trivial in comparison but I will give you a quick update of the house moving saga.  We still haven't got a date for exchange of contracts but I have given our solicitor the date I want to move (less than 3 weeks time eeeck!).  It may mean a very short period of time between exchange and completion but it has been dragging on and on and I'm hoping it may focus all the solicitors minds and get us all moving.  I need to book time off  work and a removal van so I need a date!!  There are still discussions over the bore hole, access over the lane to the house and the building of a stock proof fence but progress is being made.  The survey came back much as we expected, the house itself is solid but it has been pretty much unloved and neglected for years so we have a lot of work to do when we move in which fingers toes and everything else crossed will be next month.

I have started packing as I really don't want to leave it to the last minute, so the whole house is in turmoil and there hasn't been much time for anything else but I will leave you with some photos from the last few weeks.

I have at last finished my lovely warm Alpaca wool cardigan just in time for ........... summer.

We have been dog sitting these beauties for my son who went on a well earned holiday.  I think the bearded one hoped it would put me off getting a dog when we move, but although a lot of work it was also lovely having dogs in the house again.  I think secretly he also enjoyed their stay and walking them every day, so I'm winning the argument on getting a dog.  Who knows, he may even get a pet pig like he had as a child growing up on a farm.  Our cat was not so keen though!

We also went to the local agricultural show on a fact finding mission. Of particular interest were the Environmental stands as we hope to generate some of our own energy.  There were a couple of people who make shepherds huts so it was useful to get a feel of what we are looking for.  I also talked to some beekeepers who would be interested in setting up hives in our field so a very useful day.  I have never seen so many different types of chickens, from beautiful to bizarre but I will be getting rescue chickens again, not pretty but it is wonderful to see them exploring the world for first time.  I fell in love with the goats......well it would be a good way of keeping the grass short :)

Well I think that's it for my roundup.  I hope you are all keeping well and I will be back when I can, in-between work and packing.

Chickpea xx

  1. Fingers crossed all goes well with the move, won't be long and you will be living the dream and all the stress will be worth it. Its certainly a sad world that we are living in, I pray that we will one day all live in harmony. Take care.

  4. Great pictures. The news from the US and from the UK has been very distressing, why cant people live in harmony?
Regarding you maybe getting goats as lawn mowers, goats are browsers not grazers, they will eat a certain amount of grass but are far better to use on brambles ect. May be think about a couple of sheep, they are good lawn mowers.

  6. How exciting to know that moving day is nearly here. Also, how lovely to be planning bees, chickens, a dog etc. You have so much to look forward to. Love your cardigan by the way; great colour and with our English summers, you could be wearing it sooner than you think! xx

  10. I will never understand how moving can be so hard, especially these days when it is all computerised, why can they not speed themselves up! I hope that it all goes through now you have given them a deadline and the next time we hear from you it will be to say that you are packing the van! The other news in the world is indeed so very sad isn't it. I feel as though I don't understand the world at all these days.

  12. Lovely post, great pics. The cardigan is beautiful. Hope the move gets sorted and you get a date soon. I too have cried over the past few days, people should not die because of their beliefs, sexuality, creed, religion or anything else. Life is precious and we should treasure it and each other. Hugs xx

  13. I cant help but smile like crazy over the picture of your dogs! how cute are they.

On houses, each time we have harrassed the solicitor, the estate agent. I have hand collected and returned the paperwork on the same day as I cant allow anything to go wrong. I started doing this after house number 3 when some paper work was delay, on solicitor blamed another and then we found out a letter was put through our neighbours door and they were on holiday. To begin with I set a date as people are afraid to say when they want things to happen as they dont want anyone to be upset in the chain. Be hard, and straight with the estate agent and solicitor. "I am pushing for this day and date". THey want you to complete as soon as possible also. Dont be discouraged. Making a dream a reality, is harder work than any day job! we are routing for you!!!

    Good luck!

  14. So frustrating how long it takes to sell / buy a house and I know exactly how you feel; there were times during my last move when I decided it was never going to happen. But it all came good in the end and all the so-called problems disappeared. So take heart - it WILL happen. Keep on speaking to your solicitor and estate agent, asking how things are going and what progress is being made. DAILY!!!

  16. It's now 3 weeks since you wrote this last post, so . . . have you moved? Are you still waiting on solicitors and agreements? Please tell us that things are now moving in the right direction towards your move at the very least. Thinking of you and hoping you are in a better place.

    1. Hi Rambler, no it's not gone through, lots of problems have cropped up on the new house meaning it can't go through until it is all sorted. In the meantime our buyers are pushing us. It is a complete nightmare! Fed up with the whole bloody thing.

    2. Oh no! I had hoped you would be in your new house by now; so sorry to hear that there are problems and I truly hope they will be sorted very soon. It's horrible when you are getting hassle from both sides of your house sale/purchase. Fingers - and everything else - crossed firmly. xx
