Life - the good, the bad and the boring

I needed space and time away from the house this morning.  I have been in self enforced house arrest for months, apart from going out to work that is, I'm allowed out for that.  This morning I built a little tunnel out to my car and escaped, yes it was short lived as I had to work in the afternoon but oh my it was glorious!!  Not the weather of course, but I kind of like it that way.  The wilder the better.   There were a few fellow escapees  making the most of it, dog walking, surfing and like me just gulping in the sea air and the view.  My beautiful Cornwall rewarded me with a rainbow, it was saying hey Chickpea good to see you.  Who needs a pot of gold when you have golden sands.

I am on the emotional rollercoaster of house selling still, it has brought a few tears and a lot of uncertainty but my feet are firmly on this path now so I have to see it though to the end.  No offers yet but a steady stream of viewings and a couple of second viewings, we have not found that special place yet so no hurry.

Late at night when I can't sleep I have been watching a series called Outlander set in Scotland, I also caught a programme set during the Viking period called The Last Kingdom, anyway it is not really about the programmes but the knitted accessories......yes I know I'm a bit weird, looking at the knitting instead of following the story ......I wouldn't tell everyone that but I'm sure many of you out there will understand.  There are the most beautiful shawls and wrist warmers, I would love to know who the amazing knitters were who designed and made them.  Has anyone else seen them?  It got me thinking, I have started on a cardigan for myself but I am such a slow knitter that it will take forever and I am losing heart already.  I am using fine alpaca wool doubled up but it is still very fine so is growing very slowly.  So I'm afraid I'm going to rip it out and make something else, any ideas for accessories anyone?  Oh and the male leads in the programmes did catch my eye as well :)

Thank you for all your supportive comments, I know the blog has gone to pot lately and I haven't had a lot to share but that is my life at the moment, the good, the bad and the boring.  I don't blog to get lots of followers, but I do appreciate those who have stuck with it, and to those who have unfollowed, your loss, I was about to enter my followers into a million pound draw (only joking)  It's a bit like friends really, the true ones stick with you through thick and thin.

Chickpea xx

  1. Why not try a neck warmer - it's not a scarf, more like a large collar. That's what I want to make ;)

  2. Will always read you whenever you post. I love reading and looking at the lovely photos on your post.
So envious of the beach with the rocks and shells. I would be in heaven.
I have a bowl of shell I picked up on a beach in Laguna many years ago after my home burned down in a wildfire that was started by some crazy person. lost everything but my children. But I did find some shells and a few rocks on the beach.

    cheers, parsnip

  7. It's always so lovely to see the sea on blogs (as I'm totally landlocked and so far from the coast!) and these are beautiful photos!

  10. Beautiful skies, beautiful seas. Seeing the warning flags took me straight back to Cornwall, not used to seeing them on any other beaches!

  12. Hi. Such beautiful pictures. I have been doing lots of dog walking and taking the opportunity to go out and about while the weather is still good! Well as good as it gets in Cornwall. Seeing your beach pictures reminds me that I have not been to one for a while. So will have to put that right. Hope the house move goes o.k. and you find your perfect place.
Love your blog so your stuck with me.. Sorry. Rosezeeta.

  13. Great photos, and a great way to blow away the cobwebs a nice walk on the beach. Hoping to head to the coast in the next few days, more seaweed collecting.

  14. Love that beach below the Wheal Coates Mine chimney and I've spent many hours on there with my dogs. Although I live in Cornwall, many of my camping holidays have been spent in that area and further west. Like you, I relish the chance of escaping to a beach to relax and enjoy the sound of the sea. Tomorrow Zac and I will be on Downderry and Seaton beaches - can't wait.
I've got everything crossed that you come across your ideal home, followed swiftly by an excellent offer on your present house. And don't let anyone upset you when they look around your home!

  15. Oh, those beaches! You're a very lucky lady to be living in Cornwall - I'm hugely envious! Good luck with the house selling/hunting; it's an unsettling process, so be kind to yourself. xx

  16. Dont blame you for escaping I think when you start selling a house you start to disassociate yourself from it I know I did its only looking back now I can see that what was happening, as for knitting why not some of those wrist warmers you admire and as suggested a neck warmer :-)

    1. It certainly doesn't feel so much like home with so much personal stuff packed away and strangers looking through it. Yes both I think will be a good project to take my mind off things.

  17. I hate waiting for anything and was so pleased that my sale in Tydd went through fast. When I move here I said, never again and it still stands. There are days when I wish for a larger garden, however It does not last as I value my crafting time too much. It is several weeks since I walked on a beach, I have been trekking through our glorious countryside though, so I am crossing my fingers that I manage to get to the coast this weekend. Nothing quite clears the head like a walk along a beach, luckily there are many here where I can take Ben, he loves it as much as I do.

  21. i've read the Outlander books but haven't seen the program [we don't have TV] -- but i've heard LOTS about the knitwear. well, and the fellow playing Jamie. ;) so i absolutely get what you're saying. there are quite a few patterns floating about on Ravelry a la Outlander garb.

i feel refreshed just looking at those photos...i feel like i can smell the sea and feel the wind whipping my coat into a billowing, flapping balloon.:)

hope things settle down for you soon....xo

    1. I have just found Outlander knitting pinterest boards! I had no idea it was so popular, and I have just ordered the first book, thanks for the heads up :)

  22. My friend Kim was noting down the "knitting projects" she saw in Outlander too (I just had my eyes on Jamie . . . . ) They come from the novels of Diana Gabaldon which are worth reading. We saw the Last Kingdom too and enjoyed that.

Fab beach photos and glad you were able to get out and get some sea air.

Our house has been on the market forever it seems . . .

  23. Good on you for escaping for a bit. It is amazing how the sea and sky and a bit of wind can clear our heads isn't it. As for anyone not following you, well, yah boo sucks to them! Some people blog a lot others not so, no reason to unfollow for goodness sakes. Their loss and our gain to have you to ourselves!!! I am going to be here! I know that you will be there too! xx

  24. Oh wow, the sea shore in wildish weather, my idea of the perfect escape.

I too watch television programmes paying more attention to the knitwear than the plot!

  25. Still here, still reading and certainly not bored. How could anyone tire of those beautiful beaches. I like knitting worst warmers because they are quick... And you can never have too many!

  26. Hi good to see you got out. You have such a beautiful area I love your part of the country. I too have watched Outlander I really enjoyed it although the story line with the evil English soldier got a bit too out there for my liking! I love the fact that you were admiring the knitting. The Last Kingdom is good also I was watching that last night and I agree about the actors in both dramas. I wouldn't worry about how often you can blog this is your space and people should appreciate it is part of your life and not all of it. Keep your spirits up things will work out. xx

  31. I think your blog is great and always enjoy your pictures and your stories and thoughts. It pleases me to hear about others who do their best in the name of recycling. I collect all of the used batteries from work and take them regularly up to Tesco for recycling because no-one else seems to be bothered and would be happy to just throw them in the bin, which really annoys me! Your beach walk looked invigorating and how wonderful that the rainbow came out for you x
