Unexpected offer from Jehovah's Witnesses

I have started a cardigan in the hope that I will finish it in time for winter.

Thank you for all the lovely comments on my last post, sorry I haven't had a chance to reply as I have been drumming all weekend.  Such fun!!!!!  Working my socks off the other days, and even getting home from work and going to bed for an hour yesterday as I was so tired.  Such is life.

Having discovered the knitting cafe nearby, I am now a regular customer, I just can't stay away!  The work room is filling with new knitting projects when I should be clearing it.

I ran out of wool just before I finished this shawl, there was no more in the shop so I had to finish off in another colour.  I will have to make a feature out of it.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking perhaps an embroidered flower on the other end and pompoms in the darker colour.

I have seen lots of face clothes on blogs so bought some cotton to make some for Xmas prezzies.

There is lots of therapeutic knitting going on, mindless easy stuff that sees my mind calm down.  You see I have been having a bit of a wobble about the whole moving house thing,  I guess it's natural, we have been here for a long time.  It was triggered by a text from the bearded one when I was drumming, and I quote "Think I've just sold the house to Jehovah's Witness couple, lovely people.  Really should have put some clothes on before I answered the door but it didn't seem to put them off"  Haha says I to my drumming buddies, typical of his humour, but when I got home he had been serious, they had left their telephone number for if we were going to put the house on the market.  I rang them a couple of days later to tell them we wouldn't be ready for a few months and told them more about the house.  As I was writing the list of house features, I thought, crikey this house has everything we need, why are we moving?  To make the wobble even worse, as I was doing the above mentioned knitting I watched one of those Kirsty and Phils house programmes.  They took a couple around to see various houses, they looked like show houses, not a thing out of place, all shiny, neat and tidy.  I then looked around my house with its shabby old furniture, bits of projects all over the house.  I guess you would describe it as 'homely'.  Oh dear, do I really have the energy and fit enough knee to do all of the decluttering and tidying needed.  (News on the knee is that I have been referred for physiotherapy, no doubt they will tell me losing weight may help!)  They say moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do.  I haven't even put the house on the market and I'm stressed.

In other news, what is going on with the weather? The last two nights we have had very heavy hailstorms.  My poor veg patch has taken casualties, and I worry about the chicks in their nests.  The peppers I won from Dani have germinated, but at this rate I'm not sure they will be able to go outside for a while and then will they have time to ripen?

I hope you are all having a good week, I'm trying to pop around to visit you all during coffee breaks.

Welcome to my new followers on Bloglovin :)

  1. I think you might need that cardigan before winter if the weather doesn't right itself! April showers have arrived a bit late and it's feeling pretty chilly up here at the moment, cold winds!

  2. I had the colly wobbles a few time and yes it is stressful but now we have done it its all a distant memory, list all the reasons for moving and all the reasons for staying seeing it in black and white will help you make the right choice :-)

  3. I'm sure there is someone out there (maybe the JW's) who will find your house perfect for real.

  4. I'm sorry you've had the collywobbles, goodness if we had the time to be perfect. I'm sure there are oodles of people who would find your home perfect. As I pointed out to my husband earlier on today 'I don't do straight lines'! Knit club sounds good, I hope you get time to relax there, x

  5. Ooh love the knitting (also are those your needles in the photo? They're *gorgeous*), maybe something like a big tassel on the end? Good luck with the house, moving is always stressful. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly x

  6. If they are interested in buying, presumably they are keen on the house as it is, which I don't expect is anything like as bad as you imagine! Remember, we all see the flaws ourselves far more than anyone else, plus, those tv shows are unrealistic, I mean you wouldn't let the cameras in unless it was perfection would you! That doesn't mean that normal people are like that, which just makes you normal! In a good way!!! I hope that it all goes well whatever and however it happens! xx

  7. I will help you out here...
Remodeling the kitchen is the most stressful thing you can do. Especially when living in the same house.
But really moving is a big problem but just think what you will be gaining. Plus tossing out all the stuff you really do not needd !
Be strong. All will be better.
I must tell you about my last move what a hoot !

    cheers, parsnip

  8. I watched that programme, too. It seems that people tend to stick with what they have, after a bit of work to the house. Just take it slowly. Homely is good! Enjoy your knitting, it is such a sociable hobby, isn't it? x

  10. Selling your house with out an estate agent could save you a lot of money. I am glad we have moved because, if we want we, can stay in this house right through retirement. make sure you know exactly what you need out of the next house is all I can say. That is what I am holding on to in this mess/hovel right now. the old house would have only have lasted as long as my knees could cope with it.

    Good luck!

  11. My sympathies re. all things relocation related. We are thinking of selling our house too and the thought of what needs to be done before we can is scary!

  12. Well, we haven't had any hailstones yet but we did get a frost again last night.
Maybe you should write a list of pros and cons regarding selling. Or a list of what you do want and don't want in your ideal home, it might help you make a decision.

  13. We had the hail but only for a few seconds then it turned to rain. My move was not too stressful, deciding what to take and what to jettison was the worst task. I just did a room at a time, .it is amazing what I found stashed away in cupboards. The worst part was my late hubby's work shop, I unlocked the door several times and just could not do it, in the end I had a friend come and sort it out. Now I am as happy as Larry

  14. We've only ever bought one house and we're still in it! When we moved here, we owned 2 garden chairs, a cot and a microwave - it's a whole different story now!! You will make your new home just as lovely, if not better I'm sure :)

  15. So glad your seeds have germinated :) Not sure how they will grow there, but here, in almost mid-winter, my plants are still bearing. They don't like frost but we haven't had any of that ... yet ;)

  16. We often think about moving to down size and then chicken out. It is a big decision. I did laugh at your husband's text to you. Good luck with it all x

  17. We're moving house soon too - the second time in a year. We are going to a much smaller home so over the next few weeks we have to really be ruthless about de-cluttering and chucking away - not sure how I'm going to do that. All the best, Judy.

  18. If the Jehovah Witness couple was interested before your house has even hit the market, there must be something very appealing about it. I wouldn't worry too much about all those staged houses on TV. The best advice I got when we were selling our house in Kamloops came from a blog reader who suggested getting new white towels and hanging them up in all the bathrooms right before the house showed. We also got some big plastic containers with lids, and right before a showing we would scoop up lose stuff on the kitchen cupboards, dog toys, etc., throw them in the bins, then stack the bins down in the storage room.

  19. oh dear -- i have to say that the thought of moving gives *me* the collywobbles, and i'm not even planning on it. so fresh is the trauma [by trauma i mean Vast Amounts Of Work And Upheaval] of our move three years ago, i can't even think of other people moving without feeling queasy. :O so i feel your pain. still, i suppose having someone interesting in buying your house, in it's "natural" state <-- which i much prefer to the glossy show-homes, is probably one of the biggest stressors removed. i think. ? :)

we're having much the same rollercoaster ride with the weather here -- the pendulum swings wildly between frost warnings and humidity levels of 34C. madness i tell you.

i love knitting for it's meditative qualities....i'm prone to scarves because they're easy and go on and on and on....:) probably why i've never attempted anything complicated, because i'd only get frustrated and that would defeat the object....

    xo
