Coastal Drive, Samba and Sleepover

Sorry for the lack of posts at the moment, but we have been busy with family visiting, and a lovely Samba gig.   Our granddaughter is still covered with chicken pox, so unable to go anywhere at the moment, but she seems happy enough playing in the garden.  She is quite a little character, and despite being poorly is still full of fun.  We had a house full for dinner this evening, it was lovely to have a family get together.  Our eldest son is staying the night at the request of our grandson who wanted to have a 'sleepover' with his uncle. We had to explain that his uncle wouldn't actually be going to bed at 7.30 with him, but would be up very soon.  Luckily he fell asleep within 5 minutes so didn't realise uncle was naughty and didn't go to bed until much later :)  I'm sure his uncle will be delighted when he is woken very early in the morning, by an excited 3 year old.

The weather has changed and the winds on the coast are so strong that apparently the last day of  Boardmasters Surf Festival has been cancelled.  It must be a complete nightmare for people organising events when you are so reliant on the weather, and such a disappointment for the people who had travelled here to attend.  Our band was meant to play a gig last year on the beach at Newquay when we got news that the stage had blown away.  Luckily the Carnival we were playing at last night escaped the rain and was enjoyed by a big crowd.  It was great fun, we were accompanied by firemen on pretend horses 'galloping' around us firing at the crowd with water pistols.  There was a lovely community spirit, with many local characters taking part.

I hope the weather hasn't ruined your plans for the weekend.

I will leave you with some photos taken on the coast road when I was on the way to work last week.  I did actually stop the car, they weren't taken while I was driving!!  It was so beautiful I had to get some photos for you.

  2. Aww how sweet.

When my Mum and Dad divorce my Mum moved back to my Nans and I had my cot in my Uncles room (sardines)

I used to shout every morning "Dinky Don, Dinky Don" his name is John and he will never let me forget it.

I hope your DGS remembers when he's older x

  4. It is unfortunate when bad weather cancels plans, yours sounded like great fun, we didnt do too badly up here, heavy showers with sunshine and occasional gusts.

Your photos taken from the car are brilliant, i love Crocosmia.

  6. It was so pretty with the different colours on either side of the road Fran, you would think they would mix. Nature can be very clever sometimes :)

  7. HaHa Dinky Don! My son was called 'snot nose' for a while by our grandson because when he had a runny nose he always shouted to his uncle 'snot nose' for him to wipe his nose. Luckily the name didn't stick :)
