Work, shop, clean, cook and relax.........
I treated myself to Polenta 'fingers' this evening, probably not the best thing to eat if you are trying to lose weight, but what the heck. (actually the glass of wine may have a few calories in it as well) I made a spicy tomato sauce to eat with them. They are so easy to make, I make up a batch of them and put some in the freezer. I am making some 'freezer' meals for when I am recovering, I will have to take if easy for a while, so I want to be prepared. There is lots of carrot soup in the freezer, I could live on that for a while!!
Having the grandchildren here, means we have been watching CBB's (the children's channel) to take our granddaughters mind off her chicken pox. It is on all day! How things have changed since I was a child. It is strange to think that programmes were on for a few hours a day, with the Test Card on the screen for most of the day. Yes I am that old! I remember Watch with Mother coming on at lunch time, with Bill and Ben, Andy Pandy, The Woodentops, all in black and white of course. There has been a modern version of Bill and Ben, but it's not the same. The old ones were so bad they were good, if you know what I mean. Do you have a favourite programme or film from your childhood? (you know you will be giving your age away by answering) I must admit, out of the children's programmes on now I like In the Night Garden, it is absolutely bonkers!
I have been trying to keep up with everyones blogs, I love reading about other peoples lives, where you live and your interests. You are a talented lot :) Thank you for your comments, it is lovely to hear from you.
I will leave you with a little clip from Mork and Mindy.
Nanoo nanoo
Chickpea xx
I am the same age as you, so I too loved Bill and Ben and Andy Pandy. There was no 24 hour news channels either - which frankly these days are ridiculous as they seem to be constantly looking for news to report. Did you drink your wine standing up - as there are negative calories in it then, also don't forget the grapes count towards your five a day xxx
ReplyDeleteNanoo Nanoo :(
ReplyDeleteI got quite a shock when I turned the computer on this morning. Such a lovely man, so sad he's gone.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite childhood programmes were the Flumps, Button Moon, Magic Roundabout, Trumpton, Bagpuss...(child of the 70s :-))They don't make 'um like that anymore! x
My absolute favourite was the cartoon within the Banana Splits: The Arabian Nights. Actually, even better than that was a cartoon whose name I have forgotten that involved two children putting two halves of a ring together which had magical results. Any ideas????
ReplyDeleteAwful about Robin Williams. Depression is such a terrible thing. x
I think we must be closer in age than I had thought, Chickpea! It was Picture Book on Mondays, Andy Pandy on Tuesdays, Bill and Ben on Wednesdays, Rag Tag and Bobtail Thursdays and Woodentops Fridays. I loved the Biggest Spotty Dog You Ever Did See!
ReplyDeleteFrugally challenged has just written exactly what I was going to say! The Wooden tops was my favourite and I usually missed Rag tag and bobtail because we went to my Grandmas on the bus every Thursday - market day - and she didn't have a TV. Later I loved Ivor the Engine and Captain Pugwash and good old Blue Peter!
ReplyDeleteFrom my childhood my favourite was Rag, Tag and Bobtail, later on I was a Trumpton fan. Now I see Peppa Pig with Junior and Kaitlyn and can not understand why they love it so much.
ReplyDeleteI will drink my wine standing up from now on Fran :)
ReplyDeleteI watched Magic Roundabout CT, it was a classic :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the Banana Splits Em, still remember their song :)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember Picture Book at all FC, well done for remembering the days they were on! I would have been watching them in the 60's. :)
ReplyDeleteI was a Magpie fan Sue :)
ReplyDeleteI have not seen Peppa Pig yet Pam, I'm sure it can't be better than Trumpton, Pugh Pugh Barney McGrew Cuthbert Dibble Grubb :)
ReplyDeleteAnother fan of The Flumps here. My mum says I loved Bagpuss, Chorlton and the Wheelies, and Jamie and the Magic Torch.
ReplyDeleteI was on Playschool once!
wow, you are a celeb thrift deluxe :) Is there a clip of you?
ReplyDeleteWe're obviously the same generation. I loved the original Bill and Ben, and the Woodentops!
ReplyDeleteThey don't make them like that anymore Gina :)
ReplyDeleteI think that I need to watch some children's TV as I have no idea what is on these days! It was all Andy Pandy when I was a child, I don't remember much else! We weren't allowed to watch TV a lot as my grandmother thought that it would do terrible things to our brains!! I hope that all goes well with your op, planning for some freezer food is a great idea - very organised of you! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy, be glad when its over now x
